SID THE SLUG SLIPS UP

The Advertising Standards Authority has today (18 October) confirmed that it has not yet dealt with the Salt Manufacturers 'Association complaint about the Food Standards Agency's "Sid the Slug" anti-salt campaign. This is contrary to the claims made by the Food Standards Agency, which announced on Tuesday 12 October that the complaint has been rejected.

A spokesman for the Salt Manufacturers 'Association said: "We have said from the very outset that Sid was based on poor science because there is no evidence that salt threatens life. It now seems that the FSA has slipped up once again by announcing as fact something that hasn't happened."

The contact at the Advertising Standards Authority is Daniel Watt tel 020 7580 5555.
